Tim Sopkovich started his employment with the Brunswick Hills Police Department in 2011 and was sworn as the Departments 5^th Chief of Police in 2015.

Chief Sopkovich began his law enforcement career in 1994 with the Cuyahoga County Sheriff’s Office in Cleveland, Ohio serving in a full range duties and responsibilities such as perimeter downtown Cleveland Patrol, Courts, Civil Division and Warrants. From 1996 to 2006 he was assigned to the Sheriff’s Detective Bureau as a Detective investigating major felony crimes such as homicides, sexual offenses, assaults, internal investigations, and narcotics. During the same time frame, he was assigned to the Sheriff’s SWAT team as a tactical team leader conducting tactical operations for hostage situations, felony warrants, narcotics arrests, dignitary protection, and special event protection.

In 2005 Tim was detached from the Sheriff’s Office and was assigned to the Department of Defense as a Law Enforcement Management Specialist/ Instructor to the Iraqi Police in Baghdad and Al Asad Iraq. His primary function was to mentor, instruct, coordinate, supervise, provide leadership, security and develop law enforcement operations and tactics to current and new Iraqi Police Officers. In 2006 Tim switched over to the Department of State as a Worldwide Personal Protective Service providing high threat diplomatic security protection throughout the Middle East. During this time, he served on many protection details for the Secretary of State, United States Ambassadors, U.S. Senators, U.S. Representative, Dignitaries, and VIP’s as a Personal Security Specialist, and Designated Defensive, Marksman.

Chief Sopkovich is a graduate of the 275^th Session of the FBI National Academy in Quantico, Va.
